'Come and See' - The Halstead Area Team Mission 21-28 September 08

'Come and See' Mission 21-28 Sept
Everyone is welcome to help plan the activities and work during our mission week 21-28 September 08 and beyond.
This fortnight's mission prayer:
This fortnight we give thanks to God for all the many blessings we receive.

Father help us:
To know ourselves better,
To know each other better,
To know you better,
To grow together as a family

O Heavenly Father, we humbly beseech thee to make the doors of our parish churches gateways to thy eternal kingdom; and grant that all who worship thee within thy house may also witness for thee in the world outside, to thy honour and glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen (from Parish Prayers ed. Frank Colquhoun)

Lord of all truth, make us sensitive and humble in our approach to those who do not know you. Help us to understand their confusion, and appreciate their quest. Help us to respond to their cry and serve them with care and understanding. May your Holy Spirit so guide us to interpret your truth that many may come to find in you their purpose, their meaning and their life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
(from ‘Prayers for Today’s Church’)

A Thought— Many people today live at a distance from the church and its life. For some, you may be their main point of contact with God.

God of eternity, help us not to fear times of change and transition, but meet them as moments of grace and promise.

Lord, when you call me to new service, please give me a fresh vision of your strength and presence. Amen

God of the unexpected, help me to be ready to speak a word for you among those who do not know you but need you so much in their lives. Amen. (Adapted from John Proctor, in New Daylight)
