15th September is the end date of the Pentecost Challenge!
We are the body of Christ: created in God's image, made to live in community, intended to spend time in each other's company. At the centre of our life of worship is a meal: the Eucharist (Communion). Eating together is a powerful thing.
The challenge for post-Pentecost 2007 is to eat with as many different people on as many different occasions as possible. Through this we will be built together as a family, we will deepen both our knowledge of each other and our friendships; we will grow together as the body of Christ.
Eating together could mean:
Sharing a meal or sharing a Twix
Having somebody around for coffee and biscuits
Going on a picnic together
Eating a packet of sweets together at a bus stop
The possibilities are unbounded …
A Few Guidelines:
1. An occasion of eating together will involve eating with somebody who is not a member of your household, but lives or works within the boundaries of the Halstead Area Team of Churches, or worships at one of the churches in the Team.
2. The occasion can be anywhere!
Prizes will be awarded for the submitted picture of the meal –
a. The furthest away from the postcode CO9 2LD
b. The wackiest location
c. The strangest meal
3. Prizes will also be awarded
a. for the person who records the highest number of Eating Together events that they have attended
b. for the biggest celebrity (who does not live within the area of the Team) with whom you can be photographed eating!
**All entries must arrive at The Vicarage, Church Road, Gosfield by Saturday 15th September 2007.
